A Magnum is (generally) a variation of a firearm round with a larger case size than is standard for that caliber, allowing for a greater amount of gunpowder behind the shot. Generally associated with pistols, weapons designed for these rounds have large frames to withstand the high pressures of their cartridges, and often have long barrels to maximize bullet velocity. The standard "power weapon" in almost all Resident Evil games, the Magnum deals devastating damage to enemies and also possesses superb penetrating abilities. These guns will instantly decapitate a normal zombie when shot in the head. An infamous typo exists in the American release of Resident Evil 2 on the PlayStation, where the Magnum parts are actually called "Mugnum Parts". This typo is consistent with re-releases of Resident Evil 2, even on the Gamecube, but was fixed in the DualShock version.
