Linda Nancy Custic (Olvera) was born on July 16, 1964 to Gerlinde and Juan Guerrero in El Paso, Texas. She earned her angel wings and joined her mother and brother, Frank Guerrero, on March 17, 2023. She was in Band and the Drum Corps at Ysleta High School and graduated in the top 10% with honors in 1982. She worked as an Assistant Manager and met her former spouse Jose Luis Olvera at Safeway and had four children: John Michael Guerrero, Joshua Olvera, Angelina Christi Olvera, and Angelica Celeste Olvera. With a passion for helping others, she joined the El Paso Police Department in 1989 and eventually earned her Associates Degree in Law Enforcement in 1995 at EPCC. Being passionate and skillful in many facets of Law Enforcement, her tour of duties included being a Patrol Officer, a Police Area Representative (PAR) for the community of the Lower Valley 83rd & 87th districts, a Public Information Officer (PIO) - the media spokesperson for EPPD, a School Resource Officer (SRO) for Rio Bravo Middle School, a Crime Prevention Officer, and she eventually retired from the department in 2009 after having served for 20 years. As a persevering mentor, she continued her justice pursuits as a Career and Technical Education (CATE) Instructor for Criminal Justice at Hanks High School where she trained and competed with various students in Skills USA competitions. After these endeavors, she worked as a Bailiff for Juvenile Probation Dept. (JPD) court, and then returned to policing at Socorro Police Department where she led as a Sergeant and as an acting Lieutenant. She loved roses, drawing, gardening, Star Trek, traveling, animals, collecting crosses, but most of all, she especially loved her children. She is survived by all four children; her sisters, Michelle Guerrero, Petie Augle, & Corinna Guerrero; one nephew and several nieces. As our dearest daughter, mother, sister, aunt, & mentor, we are comforted by her impactful touch in the world and her eternal creed: “In God’s Time”.
